Bad science

Bad Science

Ever read the results of a scientific study in a newspaper and thought, 'Really? Can this be accurate?' We’re so used to relying on newspapers for our information that it’s surprising to discover how many scientific stories are misreported, biased, skewed or simply made up out of thin air. Knowing some basic research principals is pretty essential. Since Ben Goldacre's column was the first thing I read on the Saturday paper, buying his book as soon as it came out was a natural consequence. It feels so empowering and grown-up, in a non-geek sort of way to know which of the 'evidence' we are presented are true and which is best to ignore.
